About This Event
Monthly Dharma Talk
Our monthly Dharma Talk is a special gathering created for our active members: a time to step off the mat and into the heart of the practice. Yoga has always been more than physical postures. It is a living philosophy, a path of self-inquiry, and a way of meeting life with greater awareness and compassion. Each month, we set aside time to explore that deeper dimension together.
What We Explore
Each talk centers on a theme drawn from the rich wisdom of yoga and mindfulness traditions. We may look at a verse from the Yoga Sutras or the Bhagavad Gita, reflect on the yamas and niyamas, explore the nature of the mind, or examine teachings on impermanence, non-attachment, and loving-kindness. These aren’t abstract lectures. Every theme is chosen because it speaks to the real experiences we bring with us: the stress of work, the complexity of relationships, the search for balance, and the moments when our practice is tested off the mat.
Ancient Wisdom, Modern Life
The heart of each Dharma Talk is integration. We take teachings that are thousands of years old and ask how they apply to how we live today. How can the principle of ahimsa (non-harming) shape the way we speak to ourselves? What does santosha (contentment) look like in a culture of constant striving? Through reflection, discussion, and practical guidance, you’ll leave each session with insights you can carry into your daily life and your practice.
A Space for Growth and Connection
Dharma Talks are as much about community as they are about learning. They offer a welcoming space to ask questions, share reflections, and listen to others walking a similar path. Many members find that these conversations deepen not only their understanding of yoga but also their connection to the people they practice alongside. Whether you’re new to yoga philosophy or have been studying for years, you’ll find something to spark curiosity and nourish your journey.
Continuing Education
Each Dharma Talk qualifies for 1 CE (Continuing Education) Credit, making it a meaningful way for yoga teachers to keep growing while fulfilling their professional development requirements.
This month's talk will be available in the Academy after 2:00 PM PST.
Who Is It For?
These talks are open to all active members. No prior knowledge of yoga philosophy is needed, just an open mind and a willingness to explore. Teachers and trainees will find them a valuable way to enrich their teaching and stay connected to the roots of the tradition.
